Determining Axle Length for 73 Inch Outside to Outside Frame Trailer

Hi I have a trailer frame that measure 73 inch outside to outside on frame. What size axles do I need would a 72 inch spring center axles work

Assuming you have an existing axle, the best way to determine the axle you need is by measuring from hub face to hub face. Once you have this measurement you can measure from the center of the leaf spring to the center of the other leaf spring to make sure there is a compatible replacement.

If you do not have an existing axle you will need to take in to account the width of the tires and wheels you intend to use as well as the spindle length. Start with the width of your trailer with fenders/wheel wells. Then subtract the widths of the wheels you plan to use and the lengths of the two spindles to find the axle tube length.

I have attached a helpful diagram to show where to take measurements on an existing axle.
