Is There an Aftermarket 5th Wheel Frame and Hitch for a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic
Question:
2019 Ram 1500 Classic 6 1/2 ft bed 4x4 tow rated at 8222 lbs Interested in installing a fifth wheel hitch, need to know if there is an aftermarket option for the Ram Trailer Tow Prep Package that is available on 2500 and above, or will the Mopar parts kit fit the 1500 even though Mopar says it wont? The bed does have those smooth flat places both ahead and behind the wheels that looks identical to the format on the 2500 and there does appear that there are frame penetrations in those locations as well. Otherwise Im assuming that the Reese kit for this vehicle is my only non-custom option. TIA

It sounds like you are looking for an aftermarket OEM 5th wheel hitch set up that resembles the one that is available as a factory option on the 2500. An OEM set up for this vehicle does not exist outside of what is available from the OEM. The best option for your 2019 Ram 1500 Classic with 6-1/2 foot bed would be the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50142-58. These rails are a no drill installation and the rails are rated to meet vehicle manufacturer's tow ratings. These rails are industry standard which will work with any industry standard hitch such as the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider # RP30051.
If you're wanting to make it a more hassle-free hookup for a 5th-wheel or gooseneck trailer using your factory 7-way you can use the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410 which will move the connection up into your truck bed while retaining use of your factory 7-way at the back of your truck.
