Air Pressure Needed For Trailair Pin Boxes
Question:
I’m seriousy considering replacing the factory pin box on my 2017 Grand Design Reflection 367BHS. It has a LCI 1621 Pin Box with a 15,500 GVRW. I have a 2016 Ram 2500 4WD with RAM boxes and a BandW Companion single point hitch. The 158778 is rated at 21,000K and I am a bit concerned about overkill. After install, if the ride is still a bit rough can I lower the air pressure in the bladder without creating issues??? BTW, LCI referred me to you guys. Best regards

The Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 & 1621HD - 21,000lbs Item # LC158778 will replace your current 1621 and provide a much smoother ride. Even though you aren't going to use the full weight capacity you can still install this pin box on your 2017 Grand Design Reflection 367BHS. Typically manufacturers recommend only using 80-85% of the total GTW of a pin box so you would just be lowering the percentage used. If you wanted to go with a lower rated pin box then I recommend the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 - 18,000lbs Item # LC328492.
Both of these pin boxes come with the ability to raise and lower the PSI of the air bag to ensure a smooth and safe ride. You'll want to inflate the air bags until the bottom lip of the top shroud on the shock absorber is even with the arrows on the decal.
