Recommended Bike Rack For Carbon Fiber Frame Bikes

Why does the expert advice say that this rack is not good for carbon frame bikes?

The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18085 is not rated by the manufacturer to carry carbon fiber bikes so we list it as such. Frame mounted bike racks tend to damage carbon fiber bike frames so instead I recommend the RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches - Wheel Mount Item # RKY10003. The front-mounted, easy-release lever allows a single person to tilt and fold the rack to access rear cargo area without having to remove the bikes or bike rack.
