Recommended 2200lb Axle To Replace Damaged Axle On Karavan Dual Jet Ski Trailer
Question:
I need to replace a Karavan axle PN 310-00698 for a dual-jet-skit trailer. The trailer is currently rated for 2200 pounds. It has an overall axle length of 98, spring centers of approximately 78. This axle was square but Im ok replacing it with a round axle if you provide the new mounting hardware with the axle. I also need to know what wheel hubs Id need to purchase with this axle to fit the existing tires ST175/80R13. Will your axle part # 6340624 work for this application?

I have another option for you, but the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam # 6340624 you were looking at measures 95" hub face to hub face and 80" spring center to spring center which is different than the measurements you provided, and its 5200lb axle rating does not match that 2200lb rating of the axle you are replacing. This axle uses hubs that only work with tires that are 14-1/2" to 16-1/2" so it would also not work with your current wheels and tires.
Instead I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange - Regular Tires - 2,200 lbs # ASR1THDS01. This option does not have a standard axle tube so the length of the axle does not matter, and since its built in AEON main springs replace the leaf springs the spring center measurement do not matter.
While this axle-less suspension is a bit different than your standard axle, its 2200lb weight rating matches the rating of your current axle, and the AEON main spring will do a much better job of absorbing road shock and smoothing out the ride of your trailer than your current leaf spring suspension.
For compatible hubs you will need the # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K which will work perfectly with your existing ST175/80R3 tires and wheels as long as your wheels have the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. You can confirm this by measuring your wheels following the included help article. If your wheels use the 4 on 4" bolt pattern they will need to be replaced.
I went ahead and included our selection of 13" wheels with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern for you to look through if needed.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
