Recommended Base Plate 2018 Chevy Malibu LT

Question:

I have a 2018 Chevy Malibu LT and I am trying to figure out if I should get a direct connect base plate or one with a cross bar. Do you have any recommendations for my car? Currently I am thinking about RM-523186-5.

Vehicles that require some extra stability will only have the crossbar style available, for your situation the advantage of the Direct-Connect is one less piece to attach each time and the advantage of the Crossbar-Style is the compatibility of vehicle guards such as the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard, # RM-4000, This does not work with the Direct-Connect style but there are other options like the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening part # RM-4750.

I suggest the option you are currently looking at, the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM-523186-5. And, if you do not already have a tow bar, use the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar, # RM-422. The BlackHawk is one of the best tow bars we offer. It has a non-binding and self-aligning design which makes for an extremely easy hookup.

There are several trim packages available for the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, not all can be flat towed, some require a tow dolly. We always suggest that you refer to the vehicle specific owners manual for flat towing instructions.
