Where Should Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Install in Ford F-150 with 5-1/2' Bed

Question:

I just bought an older camper from a guy that has only had it for a year. He bought it from a friend that was pulling it with a 2010 f 150 short bed. The man I bought it from removed the LILfoot rocker 15 k fifth wheel hitch. I would like to install this on my truck. It has all the hardware and universal frame brackets with it. My question is, where do I install the bed rails? Whats the measurement from the rear of the bed That I start? I know I will have to be careful pulling this with a short bed as the camper could get into the cab if I turn too sharp.

When installing a fifth wheel rail kit you want to ideally put the center between the two rails right over the center of the truck's rear axle.

The Sidewinder is the only way to tow a trailer with a truck that has a 5-1/2 foot bed.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
