Can the Demco Hijacker DM8550034 Fit a Silverado 5.8’ Bed?
Question:
Your info states the demco hijacker is most used on short bed trucks but that’s confusing. Silverado’s have three bed lengths, 5.8’, 6.6’ and 8.2’. Can it be used on the Silverado SHORT BED, 5.8’?

The Demco Hijacker # DM8550034 should not be used on beds shorter than 6 feet long. This is due to the the bed not being long enough for this slider to slide back without the trailer pin box hitting the tailgate. However, we do still have a sliding option available for the 5.8 foot bed on your Silverado.
You will want to look at the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550040. This 13,000 pound capacity hitch is specifically designed for use with the the beds that are under 6 feet and will still give you up to 22-1/2" of fore and aft travel. If you prefer to not have to upgrade your pin box to a rotating option, this is definitely the way to go .
