Aluminum Ball Mount with 8 Inch Drop to Position a Trailer Inside a Garage

Question:

Do they make a single 2 inch hitch ball or do they only have the double ball hitches. I ask this question because it seems if from the pictures if I drop the hitch to the lowest setting, wouldnt the ball that is upside down drag on the ground? Would the best answer be to cut the ball that I do not need at the stem to create this clearance? I have a low garage header that I have to drop the trailer very low for the boat to clear the garage header. I would be willing to sacrifice the ball I do not need for this to work. Thanks.

Whether or not the lower ball would make contact with the ground depends on how high up the tow vehicle is. If you were to measure from the ground to the top of the receiver tube on the vehicle when on level ground, then subtract 8 inches, that will give you an idea of where the bottom of the TOP ball will be. That alone should tell you if the lower ball would be too low.

You do not want to cut the ball because it will void the warranty and also make the ball mount unsafe to use. Instead, you could get the aluminum ball mount with 8 inches of drop you can use # EA80. it has a capacity of 8,000 pounds. You can use a 2-5/16 inch ball.
