Is the Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire a Dependable Trailer Tire
Question:
I have the ever so dreaded Goodyear Marathon 235/80R16 on my 5th wheel. They came stock when it was purchased new in 2011. Are these tires tested and recommended by other consumers ? Im sure I dont want to replace the tires with the Marathons. But, I want to make sure Im not wasting money for a even worse tire :. Looks to be better, but I would like to know from a expert in the business. Thanks

Most tires, whether they are passenger vehicle tires or trailer tires, will stand up to the test of time provided they are properly maintained. The tires we carry are the same. Trailer tires must be inflated to the maximum psi as indicated on the tire sidewall. This is because trailer tires are constructed with a thicker sidewall. Because of the thicker sidewall they can generate more heat and if under inflated they will generate excess heat and cause the tire to fail prematurely. This issue is across the board no matter the brand.
The Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire, # AM10501, is rated for 3,960 pounds at 110 psi. When inflated properly to 110 psi, not overloaded, and not left out in the elements when not in use, this or any trailer tire will give you its maximum life. This tire does have a high rating on our site along with its brethren in other sizes. I have included a video review of the tire along with links to some helpful tire FAQ articles.
