Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation For 2019 RAV 4 Hybrid

Question:

Am looking for a relatively lightweight 2-bike tray hitch rack 1-1/4 for my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid. Will be for two normalinch sized bikes with typical 30-42 700c tires a 61cm gravel bike and a small hybrid. Will be taken on and off a lot hence lightweight. Sherpa 2.0 would be my top choice, unless placement of plastic trays will expose them to being melted by exhaust. Recommendations?

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Gray, part # SH12G, would also be my choice. It comes with an anti-rattle hitch bolt that eliminates movement between the bike rack and the hitch receiver. It also locks the rack to the vehicle. The rack has a tilt away feature that works with or without bikes, so you can access the rear of your vehicle. You can also lock the bike to the rack with the included locking cable.

You should not have any issues with any part of the rack melting from exhaust heat. I have worked with hitch bike racks for close to twenty years and I have never heard of that happening. The Kuat Sherpa has a 8 1/2" rise from where the bike rack enters the hitch receiver and the lowest point of the platforms that carry the bikes, so your bikes are not going to be at exhaust level.
