Can Road Armor LC696740 Be Used To Replace 7-3/4 Long Equalizers On 2020 Forest River Sabre 36BHQ?

Question:

I have a 2020 Forest River Sabre 36BHQ 5th wheel with 7000# Lippert axles and I would like to upgrade my suspension with the road armor equalizer and greasable wet bolts. I see that the road armor has a 6” center to center dimension left to right. My trailer equalizer is 7-3/4” center to center left to right and 2-7/8” from center line of top hole to center line of the two bottom holes up and down, and 4-7/8” diagonally from top hole to left and right holes. The shackles are 2-1/4” center to center shackles. Would the road armor equalizer fit if I increased the shackle length to 3-1/8” center to center shackles? If not is there another way to make it work or would I need a different style upgraded equalizer for my trailer.

The Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit # LC696740 you were looking at would be able to replace your 7-3/4" long equalizers on your 2020 Forest River Sabre 36BHQwith 7000lb axles if you used 3-1/8" shackle straps like what is found in the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3-1/8" Long Shackle Straps # MR76ZR but I do not recommend this.

The reason is from the center of the upper mounting hole to the center of the horizontal mounting holes which is the lowest point of your current equalizers measures 2-7/8", and from the center of the upper mounting hole to the bottom of the # LC696740 is 7-1/4" so you may have ground clearance issues.

Instead I recommend going with the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit - Double-Eye Springs - Tandem Axle - 8,000 lbs # K71-653-00 which are 7-3/4" long so they exactly match you current equalizers, include wet bolts and new heavy duty 2-1/4" shackles which match your existing shackles, and are right around 2" shorter than the Road Armors so you will have increased ground clearance.

This kit is designed to replace your exact equalizers, and will still do an equally great job of smoothing out the ride of your trailer.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
