Parts Needed for Brake Controller Installation on 2011 Nissan Frontier  

Question:

I own a 2011 Nissan Frontier pro4x I will be towing around 3-4500 pound car with trailer. Trailer has trailer brakes. I do not have a factory hitch ect, but I did have a company near my house install hitch and light are wired to a 7 pin plug. What would I need to have the trailer brakes work with my truck

From what you describe, it sounds like you have most of the wiring squared away.

You'll need to install a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes and wire it to the vehicle. For a brake controller, I'd recommend using a proportional controller for the most effective, safe and predictable braking. The Tekonsha P3 you'd looked at, part # 90195 is extremely easy to use and provides excellent controls and an easy to read and understand display. You'll also need the # 5506 brake controller wiring kit.
