Is 3 Rear Sag Too Much For A 2011 Ram 1500 W/ A Weight Distribution Hitch Installed?
Question:
I have a 2011 Ram 1500 5.7L with 3.55 gears. Towing a 5900 pound trailer with a WDH, the measurement to the rear fender with no trailer is 39inch with the trailer and WDH hooked up its down to 36. Is this to much sag?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Having 3" of suspension sag when your trailer is connected to your 2011 Ram 1500 5.7L with a weight distribution hitch is too much, as the weight distribution hitch should allow you to be closer to 1" or less of sag.
Since you are having that much sag it leads me to believe that the system you have is underrated for the tongue weight of your trailer, or that it is not quite set up correctly. If you can tell me exactly which weight distribution hitch you have I would be happy to confirm this for you.
Now you could add an air helper spring kit like the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Springs w/ Internal Bumpers # AL88365 you were looking at as it is confirmed to fit and will get rid of the sag, but you shouldn't need to as that is what the weight distribution hitch is designed to do.
If you do decide to go ahead and add the # AL88365 I also recommend adding an on-board air compressor that way you do not have to manually inflate the helper springs each time you are ready to tow your trailer. I like the Air Command Compressor System w/ Light Duty Compressor - Wireless - Smartphone Enabled - Single Path # F2610 because it is controlled by an app on your smartphone and does not require you to mount bulky analog gauges in your truck.
