2021 Ford Ranger Brake Error With Demco Stay & Play

Good Afternoon, I have purchased items from eTrailer in the past, but this time decided to have professionals install my Stay and Play system from Demco in my 2021 Ford Ranger. The folks at Camping World need I say more installed the system, and within 5 miles of driving away after installation I got a Check Brake System error on the truck. Im wondering if you guys have seen this with these kits for the Ranger, and if so, what was the resolution? Im going on two weeks since install, a week since I took the truck back to them and they're still scratching their heads. My truck has less than a thousand miles on it, and Im utterly gutted that they created this issue....I would have them rip it out but Ive got holes in the dash from the push button install, as well as whatever other holes they put in the vehicle to install it.

Well I'm certainly sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your 2021 Ford Ranger and the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251.
I can tell you that we have not heard of this particular issue with the 2021 Ford Ranger with the Check Brake System error. So while I can't give you a specific resolution, I did some digging and it looks like that error is often associated with the vacuum line. That makes sense given how the unit is installed, so I reached out to Demco to see what they said.
While they hadn't had this exact issue either, they did agree is it very likely a vacuum issue. What they recommended was to have them check the vacuum check valve at the unit, where it is teed into the vacuum line to see if it is properly installed and oriented, loose, or another potential issue at that spot. They also said they do recommend that the vacuum tee connection be as close to the booster as possible. Any of these things being off can cause the issue you are seeing.
