Can You Install the Derale Cooler in Series With a Factroy Cooler

Question:

2015 F-150 - 4x4 - 2.7L has a tiny factory trans cooler. When installing the D13503 cooler, do I leave the factory cooler and plumb in series, OR remove factory cooler ? When towing my 25 ft trailer on an 85 degree day, my truck trans temp gets up to 215 degrees. Thanks

When installing the Derale # D13503 you can leave the factory cooler in place. The Derale may be installed in series with the factory cooler. The transmission fluid will go from the factory cooler to the Derale cooler for additional cooling, and from there to the return line.

Adding the Derale cooler will also add to the capacity since there will be more room for transmission fluid. With the additional cooling capacity and two different coolers you will have far less heat when towing your trailer.
