What Might Second Wire Ran to RV Power Steps Control

Question:

2002 Rexhall Aerbus. The lead turns on the light. It was not working until after I disconnected the two wires from the black lead to the step light. The purple is not connected. The 2nd wire goes to the same area as the door sensors, but I dont know what it is connected to. In your experience, what would a 2nd wire connected to the step light be connected to? The logic seems that when the step is on the door is open, something else is on or being powered. If its a line to the porch switch, how can this be tested? Thanks

It is probably a light that's on the step setup that lights up the area so that you can see where you are stepping. If you don't see a light come one there's a chance the bulb of it maybe burned out. You could get a pretty good idea if this is true by testing the wire with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 when the steps are out. You should see 12 volts at this point if so.
