Pole Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Installed on Luxe-Ryder Trailer
Question:
I have owned various trailers thru the years. Single and dual axle and gotten by with distributing weight on the trailers to off-set tongue weight. However a trailer designed up until 2004 called a Luxe-Ryder had a single tongue with no A-frame beneath it. The 3/8 inch wall square tube is 4x4 but covered with a round Stainless Steel jacket. Tongue weight I measured to be in the area of 225 lbs without any weight in the trailer. Designed to haul 2 motorcycles that are forward of the axle, weight can jump to over 1000 lbs. My thought in the past was to use an equalizer hitch but it would require cutting thru the stainless jacket to mount around the 4x4 tube frame...something I really didnt want to do. Your pole adapter hitch appears to have some side x side play but wondering if it will expand to at least 6 inches or more to fasten to the outside diameter of the jacket

The only way you'd be able to install and use the Reese Pole Tongue Adapter part # RP58393 would be if you cut off the round tube and attached this to the square tube underneath. It needs the square edges to attach properly.
