We have a video showing installation of the P3 brake controller # 90195 on a 2013 Dodge Ram that I have linked for you. Installation will be very similar on a 2012 model. They installed it on the lower part of the dash, right of the steering wheel. As long as the controller is within easy reach of the driver and mounted according to the instructions you can mount it anywhere that works for you.
