Recommendation for Replacement Hub With 30205 Bearings

Question:

I’m looking for replacement hubs for my Harbor Freight trailer. Even though I never immerse it in water, the Bearing Buddy 2047 fits snug on the right hub but on the left hub it’s a little less snug. Overtime it starts to work it’s way out. Bearing part number is 7205E ZXY. I’m guessing the best solution is to replace the hud because the original dust cover never fit snugly thus it is a poorly made hub. Any advice?

The bearing you have is actually a 30205 bearing which has an inner diameter of 0.985 inches. From what I could find, this is a common bearing used on the Harbor Freight trailers.

With that being said, we do not have a replacement for this, unfortunately. This is something you would need to go through Harbor Freight for a direct replacement. However, the better option will be to actually replace the axle. This will get you set up with something that is much more common.

Something like the Dexter # 20440I-EZ-60 will have a 2,000 pound capacity, includes hubs with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, uses a much more common # L44649 bearings, and has easy lube spindles. These allow you to grease the hubs/bearings via a zerk fitting on the end of the spindle so you wouldn't need to reuse the Bearing Buddy system. This does measure 60 inches from hub face to hub face and 48 inches from center of spring seat to center of the other spring seat, so you will need to measure to make sure this would work for you or not.
