Blind Spot No Longer Available On 2017 Ford Escape After Installing Brake Controller
Question:
I recently installed an etbc7 installation kit along with a P3 brake controller. I have 2 issues. After installation i get messages on the ford escape that blindspot is no longer functional because trailer is attached even though I have not attached the harness from the trailer to the car. When i do attach the trailer harness to the vehicle the brake controller does not recognize that the trailer is attached. I believe I have done all the wiring correctly. Is there something I can do to trouble shoot these problems.

As long as your 2017 Ford Escape has the factory tow package, Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 and Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 is all you would need. Your blind spot monitoring should still work with the brake controller installed and no trailer hooked up. I would make sure all your connections on Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 are correct and tight; I attached a diagram to verify you have it installed correctly.
If all connections are tight and everything is installed correctly, then you may be able to go into the blind spot settings on your Ford Escape and change the settings. I read on several sites that Ford owners sometimes need to change their blind spot settings after hooking up a brake controller and/or trailer. If issues still persist then I will look deeper into the situation for you.
