To use 2-1/4" wide Electric trailer brakes on your trailer that currently has 1-3/4" wide brakes you will need to replace your hub and drum assemblies.

Since your trailer has a 3500lb axle you would more than likely need the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 # 84546UC3-EZ which uses the common 3500lb axle bearing combination of # L68149 and # L44649. This hub and drum assembly is designed specifically for 2-1/4" wide brake assemblies.

You will just want to make sure your axle uses the # L68149 and # L44649 bearing combination. The easiest way to do this is remove one of your current hubs and look for the bearing numbers stamped in the face of each bearing. If you find you have a different bearing combination just let me know.

For braking assemblies you would need the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA which are correct for a 3500lb axle.

I included a video of the # 84546UC3-EZ for you to take a look at.
