Suspension Enhancements for 2017 MB Sprinter 3500 Class C
Question:
Looking for some help to reduce the Sway on my 2017 MB Sprinter 3500 Class C motorhome. I see Roadmaster RM-1209-131 sway bar would be the best way to go but it is $847. I think instead of spending that much money to start I will go with the less expensive Sumo SSR-338-54 sway sprints at $295.99. I want to reduce the wind and truck traffic swat that I get on the interstate. your thoughts ??

Replacing the factory jounce springs on your 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs, # SSR-338-54, is definitely an improvement over factory suspension in helping to eliminate body roll of your Class C motorhome. While I do think you would see greater improvement with installation of the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar, # RM-1209-131 there is a variance in price to consider. The factory jounce bumper stop provides for travel prior to being engaged while the replacement is a progressive suspension. Meaning it is always engaged with suspension travel with increased resistance as needed.
Most all Class C motorhomes are built on Cutaway chassis of OEM's common van lines. Generally speaking, the suspension on these Cutaway's is perfectly adequate from the factory. When the coach builder places their product onboard few will address the new demands placed on the OEM suspension. I have found that the addition of an anti-sway bar such as the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar, # RM-1209-131, will definitely provide enhanced suspension quality and work toward minimizing that annoying and exhausting body roll commonly found in Class C motorhomes. The effectiveness of anti-sway bars is the diameter and quality of the steel they are constructed from. Roadmaster claims that for every 1/8" increase in diameter there is roughly a 30% increase in torsional resistance (body roll). Their aftermarket anti-sway bars are generally 3/8" to 3/4" increase over factory and constructed with 4140 chromoly steel.
