How To Carry 4 Bikes On A 2019 Acura MDX While Pulling A Tear Drop Camper
Question:
I would like to carry 4 bikes while towing my tear trailer with my 2019 Acura MDX with 3500lbs towing capacity. I am worried about the increased tongue weight that would cause because of the leverage putting the trailer out that far away from the vehicle plus the weight of the bikes. The trailer probably has a 150# + tongue weight plus the leverage? Is the swagmann original 4 towing Item # S64675 a good solution for us? Attached is a photo of the trailer attached to my OLD car. New car is a 2019 Acura MDX better towing capacity. Photo also attached of current car. Thanks a million,

It doesn't appear you would be able to fit a 4 bike rack in between your 2019 Acura MDX and the camper and still be able to make a some what sharp turn. I recommend looking in to adding a hitch to the back of the trailer like the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver Item # C13701. The is a bolt on or weld on application, fits frame widths from 18" to 51" apart and has a 500lb tongue capacity. If you are wanting to take the bikes this may be the only option due to the limited space. If you decide to go this route I recommend the Swagman Original - 4 Bike Rack Item # S64400. It is designed for use on the back of campers being towed where the Swagman Original 4 Bike Item # S64675 is designed to be used on the back of motor homes but not travel trailers.
