Transmission Cooler Recommendation For 2017 Kia Sorento
Question:
Hello I have a 2017 Kia Sorento SX AWD 3.3L 6 Cy and am looking to add a transmission cooler to tow a 3,900 lb travel trailer. Can you recommend the best one for this purpose?

Expert Reply:
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2017 Kia Sorento, due to its efficiency, is an 8000 Series from Derale:
- Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13501
This is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. Because you cannot over-cool fluids, the rule of thumb with transmission coolers is that size matters so the large 11" wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep Series 8000 is going to give you great cooling efficiency.
Adding a transmission cooler such as the Derale Series 8000 # D13501 is one of the best things you can do for your Sorento, because towing is a stressor and additional cooling keeps temperatures down and helps prolong the lifespan of your transmission.
