2020 Honda CR-V Bike Rack Options for a 1-1/4 Receiver with 1" from the Pin Hole to the Face

Question:

I recently purchased a 2020 Honda CR-V AWD and had the dealer install a trailer hitch and harness. It is a class 1, 1 1/4 inch, but the hitch pin hole is only 1 inch back from the opening making it difficult to find a bike rack. Are there hitch mounted platform bike rack options available? Do I need to have another hole drilled further back?

I have two solutions for you.

First, though, you will need more than 1" from the center of your hitch pin hole to the face of your receiver in order to use any bike rack. Because of that, you will need to either use a trunk-mounted carrier or upgrade your hitch.

For a trunk-mounted carrier, I recommend the Saris Bones EX 3, part # SA803. It is a confirmed fit for your 2020 Honda CR-V, and it can support 3 bikes up to 35 pounds each. I've linked to a video review of this below.

Your second option is to speak with your dealer to see if your factory hitch can be removed. We have much better hitches available here for your CR-V, and they will open your options up to much better bike racks. If you'd like to take this route, then I recommend the etrailer Class III, part # e98848. It will be able to support all of our bike racks. I've linked to a video review of this as well.

If you decide to upgrade your hitch to the etrailer Class III, then I recommend using the Swagman Dispatch, part # S44FR, as your bike rack. It's a platform rack that can support two bikes up to 45 pounds each. I've linked to a video review of this, too.
