Does Thule Canyon XT Roof Basket Fit 2017 Subaru Outback Touring With Thule Roof Rack
Question:
2017 Outback touring. I have one of these on my 2020 crosstrek but just want to be sure that it works with the touring version of the outback. It has the more flush rails and will be adding crossbars that fit them. Also want to be sure moon roof function is still good to go : Thanks

I checked with Thule for you, and adding a Thule roof rack to your 2017 Subaru Outback Touring will allow you to use the Thule cargo basket you asked about:
- Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT
You will still be able to use your moon roof as well, as the Canyon XT has T-bolts that you can use to install the basket directly into the top channels of the Thule rack. The Canyon XT is a really nice choice for a basket as it is quiet due to its wind fairing, is large at 49" long x 40" wide, and is 6" deep so your gear is easy to manage in the basket. Then for a roof rack that fits your 2017 Outback Touring with flush rails, I verified with Thule the correct parts that fit, which are the following:
- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Silver # TH711200 or Black # TH711220
- Evo Flush Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars # TH710601
- Fit Kit for Thule Evo Flush Roof Rack Feet # TH186047
The WingBar Evo crossbars are really quiet due to their tapered shape and WindDiffusers, which are specially designed rubber strips that direct the air flow over the bars. They are also simple to use with the Canyon XT because they have QuickAccess strips at their T-slot (top channel), so to mount the basket in the channel all you have to do is twist the end caps up and slide it right in.
You can also lock both the roof rack and the Canyon XT to help protect your investment, and you can use the same key for both by adding the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450600.
