Troubleshooting B&W Companion Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Hitch BWRVK3500 Jaws Not Opening

Question:

Companion hitch. Handle has no resistance and jaws will not open. On level ground and weight off the truck. This has happened before.

I reached out to my contact at B&W and she recommended double checking that the handle is fully open, and the pin is inserted in the back of the head holding the handle open.

If that is the case, then go ahead and try pulling forward. Since the pin weight of the trailer is off of the truck, and you are on level ground the jaws should open as you pull forward.

If this does not fix the issue let me know and we can go into more in-depth troubleshooting.
