Can Fixed B&W Companion Fit 2021 Ford F-250 Short Bed

Question:

I have a 2021 F250 Crew cab short bed. In all my previous same model trucks, I always used the BandW slider version but never had to use the sliding option. Does your BWRV3500 position differently into the turnball? If not, then this would probably work for me? I am only switching, because of the weight of this thing. The slider is a back killer to take out. I would rather use this one if it will work. Thanks!

The B&W Companion hitches for your 2021 Ford F-250 do not position differently, and it is likely you will be okay to use the fixed hitch with the Turnoverball mount, which are the following parts:

- B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W

- Custom Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1116-5W

The only way to know for sure though is to use the following formula, which will tell you if you can make a full 90 degree turn safely:

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from center of 5th-wheel hitch jaw to truck cab in inches
B = Distance of offset/slide
C = Width of trailer in inches divided by 2

The Clearance needs to be at least 4 inches in order for you to safely execute a 90 degree turn. If it is not, and your trailer does not have a tapered nose, you could still use the fixed # BWRVK3500-5W, but just be cognizant of sharp turns. Otherwise, you may want to go with the sliding B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # BWRVK3400-5W.

You're right that it's very heavy, but there is something that can help with that, the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches # BWRVXA3130.

This works with a hoist if you happen to have one, or you can use the Viking Solutions Rack Jack II Hoist with Winch # 310-VRJ001.

The only other thing you will need for your F-250 is a 5th wheel wiring harness if you don't have one, the Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness for Aluminum Truck Bed # 50-97-410-010.
