Weight Distribution Recommendation for a Trailer Hauling a 4000 lb Tractor with 2012 Honda Ridgeline

Question:

I am hauling a 6x12 tantem axle suretrack trailer, with 4000lb tractor on it. the ball is a 2 and 5/16 ball. Would you suggest weight distribution and sway control or just sway control and what unit would suggest and would I need any adaptors with this.

Weight distributions systems are typically recommended when your gross trailer weight (GTW) is more than 50 percent of your tow vehicles gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), if the rear of your tow vehicle sags, or if you experience trailer sway or difficulty steering when towing. If you are experiencing any of these factors, I recommend using weight distribution.

To determine which weight distribution system will be the best system for you, you will need to know the total tongue weight of your towing set up. This includes the tongue weight of your trailer when it is loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of any cargo loaded in the tow vehicle behind the rear axle. I have attached a help article on how to determine your tongue weight for you to check out.

Once you find your total tongue weight, I recommend looking into our Reese Steadi-Flex weight distribution systems. These systems come with integrated friction sway control and are very easy to set up and use. Each of our weight distribution systems are rated by tongue weight, so I recommend choosing a system that has a tongue weight range that encompasses your total tongue weight. I have attached a link to all of our Reese Steadi-Flex systems for you to check out. I have also attached a link to all of our weight distribution systems.

Keep in mind, our Reese Steadi-Flex systems do not come with a hitch ball, so I recommend using the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, # 19286, with these systems.

If you would like to send me your total tongue weight, I can make a more specific weight distribution system recommendation for you.
