Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Mazda 5 with Factory Spoiler

Question:

What is the best bike rack for a 2012 mazda 5 with a spoiler? I would like to carry one adult and two childrens bikes. We have a roof rack, but I am not sure if I need an additional attachment. I would prefer to hang them on the back of the car.

I checked with Thule and they confirmed that the Thule OutWay 3 Bike Carrier # TH56BV that you referenced will work on your 2012 Mazda 5 with a spoiler.

This is one of the best trunk mounted bike racks available because of how easy it is to install and uninstall and because of how well it secures to vehicles. Most trunk racks use fabric straps that could be cut easily, whereas this rack uses rubber coated steel cables.

You would be able to carry all of your bikes with this rack and would not have to use any roof mounted bike racks like you said you were not interested in using.

For your childrens bikes you may also be interested in purchasing a Thule Bike Frame Adapter part # TH982XT. This product attaches to the seat post and the steering stem to provide a horizontal attachment point for bike racks. Sometimes childrens bikes have small frame dimensions and adapter bars can provide additional clearance for the bike rack arms. Check out the review I attached for this product.
