You can definitely use the Curt Echo # C51180 on your 2017 Cadillac XT5. That being said, you will need to add a couple things to get it up and running.
First, you will need to have a 4 Flat on the vehicle to start with. If you do not already have one, the Tekonsha # 118720 will be my suggestion. This is a plug and play option that takes absolutely no time to install. The next add on will piggyback off this part, so it is needed.
Next, you will need our 7-Way Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L. This includes the 7 Way plug for the # C51180 to attach to as well as all the needed wiring, circuit breaker, and bracket. Once this is installed, you will be all set and ready to go.
One potential add-on you should look at, however, is the Manual Override Button for Curt Echo Brake Controller # C83HR. This will allow you to activate the manual override without having to use your smart phone. This way if you phone's battery dies or if you can't reach you phone, you can still get everything stopped in the case of an emergency.
