Troubleshooting Tekonsha Prodigy P2 90885 Not Turning On When Installed On 2016 Ford F-150
Question:
I have installed the Tekonsha P2 in my 2016 Ford F-150 XLT. The P2 is not illuminating. I have the correct pigtail and connectors and have been doing research about there needing to be an additional hot line with 30amp fuse to the controller directly from the battery. What do I need to do to get it to work?!

Since your 2016 Ford F-150 XLT has the factory trailer brake controller port underneath the dash for plug-in wiring harness # 22292, you do not need to run a 30-amp inline fuse for the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 to work correctly. That is only for vehicles that do not have a factory trailer brake controller port.
I recommend testing the black wire on the back of the controller using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. This is the power wire for the trailer brake controller. If you are not getting power check the engine bay fuse box and make sure that fuse 49 is installed. If it is not installed or blown you will need to replace it with a 30 amp fuse.
I included a video of the # 90885 for you to take a look at.
