Hot Spots On A Cast Iron Greystone Griddle

Question:

My greystone cast iron cooktop does not cook well at all. It is perfectly seasoned yet the area above the burner ring gets too hot and everything else does not get hot enough which means burnt food constantly.

Expert Reply:

Cast iron is notorious for needing to be preheated in an oven to cook evenly and to be heated up slowly. Since the burner is directly below the center of the griddle on the Greystone Outdoor RV Griddle - Cast Iron - 12,000 Btu - 17" Wide
Item # WAY54FR it will always be hotter than the outer edges and will require the heat to be lower to avoid burning. Seasoning the griddle will help with sticking but won't help heat distribution. You'll want to allow for plenty of time to preheat up the griddle to get a more even heat distribution.
