Cargo Box Suggestions For 2002 BMW M5

Question:

Hi, Im looking for suggestions on which cargo box to purchase. I have a 2002 BMW M5 sedan with square shaped Thule cross bars photo attached. Im planning a 2400 mile trip, and I want to carry 2 medium sized duffel bags, a small 2 person tent, 2 small folding chairs, and maybe a few other small items. I believe the bars have a 100 lb loading capacity priority is something light weight, small enough to fit on my sedan, and aerodynamic for low wind noise. I live in Plymouth Michigan 48170, and need the box by late June. I think the Thule Force XT Sport Rooftop Cargo Box - 11 cu ft - Black AeroSkin or the Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 Rooftop Cargo Box - 14 cu ft - Black are my best options?? leaning towards the Thule because it is lower profile, but not sure if it is big enough... also worried that both of these might be too long for my sedan? Open to other suggestions! Thanks! - Ethan, 732-306-0408 you can call me if easier!

Of the two boxes you're looking at, I would get the Thule Force XT # TH6356B because it looks better in my opinion. Comparing it to the Yakima RocketBox # Y07192 it's actually almost an inch taller so the Thule option is not anymore low profile than the Yakima option. It may seem that way but they are 16-3/4" tall and 16" tall respectively. Both will work with your square bars and both are around the same weight but the lighter one is the Thule option. That's what I would go for forsure!

If you wanted to go all out, you can get the Yakima CBX Solar Box # Y76FR! There is nothing on the market like this. So if you had electronics or power banks you wanted to charge on your 2400 mile trip, you can charge your equipment on the way, for FREE!

I've included videos for all of these so take a look to help you make your decision!
