Kuat Bike Rack with Best Rear Hatch Clearance for 2011 Hyundai Veracruz

Question:

I am looking for a lightweight platform bike racks for a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz with 2 inch hitch. Will the Kuat Sherpa, or Kuat NV. fit this vehicle. Do you have enough clearance to open the rear hatch with bikes mounted on rack and tilted down? If these racks do fit my vehicle what are the pros and cons of these 3 racks?

We have not yet had the opportunity to test-fit any of the three racks on a 2011 Veracruz, so I cannot say with certainty what sort of rear-hatch clearance you would have.

I can say that of the three racks, the NV would give the best chance of the hatch clearing the bikes. Because the platform section of the rack is not raised as high over the level of the receiver, it will place the bikes further away from the hatch. The NV also features a locking anti-rattle hitch lock and integrated cable lock to deter theft, as well as a built-in bike repair stand for those last minute adjustments before or repairs after your ride.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0, part # SH22G is also a great rack and it is designed for use with a 2 inch receiver. It would place the bikes 13 inches to the hatch opening and would have the best chance of interfering with the hatch. At 32 lbs, it is the lightest of the three racks you mentioned.

I checked with Kuat, and was told that they have not yet done a test-fit on the Veracruz, so they unfortunately cannot confirm that the hatch would completely clear with bikes in place and the platform tilted all the way to the rear with any of these three racks.
