Diagnosing Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter For Ram OEM Prep Package That Is Rattling When Driving

Question:

I installed this in my 2020 2500 ram and after a couple months heard a bad rattle when I drove over bumps. Come to find out the adapter had some slack in it. I tightened back down. Was wondering if this was normal or what?

A small amount of rattle or play is normal for adapters like the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # RP30154. But you may need to tighten your adjustable anchor points as shown in the demonstration video that I attached (about the 5 minute mark).

You may want to use some sort of sealant such as Loctite Threadlocker 262 - High Strength - Up to 3/4" Nuts/Bolts - 0.20-Fl-Oz Tube # LT37420 to keep the anchors where you want them.
