Parts Needed To Install Trailer Brake Controller On 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport
Question:
I have a small tear trailer I tow with my 2015 jeep wrangler sport. The tear has electric brakes. The jeep does not have a factory tow package. Please supply a parts list of your products that I will need for complete installation of breaking control system. The trailer has a round 7 port connector. I wish to mount the female connector through my off road bumper for ground clearance. Please suggest a controller that is not top of the line price wise. Thank you very much

I would be happy to recommend all of the wiring and components needed to add a 7-way connector and trailer brake controller to your 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport so you can tow your tear camper with trailer brakes.
Since your 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport does not have the factory tow package you will first need to add a 4-way connector using the # 118416 which will plug in to your factory connectors so you will not need to splice any wires.
With a 4-way connector installed you can now install a 7-way connector # ETBC7 which will plug in to the newly installed 4-way connector and only require a few more connections. You will need to extend the black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, extend the blue wire to the dash of your Jeep where you will be mounting the trailer brake controller, and ground the white wire to the frame.
The # ETBC7 includes a standard mounting bracket, but since you are wanting to mount it in your off-road bumper you will need to fabricate your own bracket, or drill a hole and mount it directly to your bumper.
For a trailer brake controller I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 due to it being extremely reliable and having great features like an easy to read LCD screen and built in diagnostics that are easy to read and understand. The # 90195 falls right in the middle of the price range of controllers, and is hard to beat.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
