Troubleshooting Curt Triflex Trailer Brake Controller Having Gain Numbers But Brakes Not Working
Question:
I have a curt triflex brake controller on my 2009 f150 xlt. The numbers for the gain show up when I’m pressing the brake pedal and when activating the controller manually but the trailer brakes aren’t working. How can I determine if the problem is at the controller or trailer?

To determine if the issue is within the controller itself or on the trailer side of things, I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the 5 o'clock pin on the 7-way connector while a friend applies the manual override of the controller.
If you have power then the issue is on the trailer side, and if there is not power then the issue is between the 7-way and trailer brake controller on your 2009 Ford F-150.
Since you are getting the gain number on your Curt Triflex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV but you are not getting your brakes to activate I recommend first checking that the brakes on your trailer are adjusted correctly. If there was an issue with the wiring, you should be getting an error code and not the gain numbers.
I linked a helpful article that goes over how to correctly adjust your trailer brakes.
If you find that your brakes are still not working, let me know if the 7-way has power or not and I would be happy to go into more in-depth troubleshooting steps.
I included a link to a helpful article in wiring for you to take a look at.
