Do Proportional Brake Controllers Apply Brakes when in Reverse

Does the Hopkins impulse brake controller automatically apply the brakes in reverse and is there any way to disable this feature?

The Hopkins Impulse or Agility part # HM47294 does not lock up the brakes in reverse like a surge brake setup does (which I believe is what you might be thinking of). The inertia sensor does not know which direction you are travelling so if you are in reverse it would not automatically assume you are stopping and would instead work like when travelling forward. In general electric brakes don't work as well in reverse so you should experience diminished braking power.
