Does Curt Echo Brake Controller Require Battery Wire Ran when Installed on 2019 Kia Sorento
Question:
My 2019 Kia has the harness behind the driver side tire like you mentioned in the video. You said to someone in a answer to his or her question. “The Echo # C51180 is a unique and really awesome brake controller solution. Basically its a self contained brake controller that installs inline with the 7-way wiring of your vehicle at the rear of it. So the only wiring needed is a 7-way with all of the turn signals active and a wire for the 12 volt accessory circuit ran up to the battery. We have the # ETBC7L specifically for your application after you install a 4-way # 118583 youd be set with parts needed to install. So the Echo draws power from the 12 volt accessory circuit, uses the trailer lighting circuits to determine when you apply the vehicle brakes, and then uses its internal inertia sensor to decide how hard to apply the brakes. Now to adjust its sensitivity etc. you sync it to your smart phone and it walks you through that process.” So is I have those wires in the back of my car do I still need to install the power cables to my battery? As I read on another answer to someone’s question on here you don’t. They said the power is only for the brake module in the front of your car. But does the Ecco still need this power? Please help. Thanks.

Yes the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 does require the battery wire ran from the black wire of the # ETBC7L to the vehicle battery. The controller does require it's own power source separate from any other wiring so that it does not over draw the circuit and either cause the controller to stop working or the trailer wiring to stop working.
