Troubleshooting No Right Brake and Turn Signals When a Curt Echo is Installed
Question:
We have a 2013 Toyota Highlander and a 2002 17’ Casita Travel Trailer. With trailer connected directly to vehicle, the left and right turn signals and left and right brake lights work on the trailer. When we install the paired Echo controller, the light is green on the phone as it should be, and the left turn signal and left brake light work but the right turn signal and right brake light do not work. Any suggestions?

I spoke to the techs over at Curt, and they recommended checking to make sure the 3 o'clock port on the # C51180 is not bent to the point of not making contact when the trailer is plugged into it. This can cause there to be no continuity to the right-side lights and blinkers.
However, if that looks good, you will need to use a tester, something like the # PTW2993, to see if there is any power coming out of that same 3 o'clock port when the # C51180 is plugged into the vehicle and the blinker is engaged. If there is no power, the controller will need to be replaced.
The Curt Echo # C51180 does have a lifetime warranty, and this will definitely be covered under said warranty. If this was purchased through etrailer.com, give our customer service a call at 1-800-298-8924 and we can get you all the needed info to get it taken care of. If it was not purchased through us, you will need to contact the place it was purchased from for the warranty info.
