Increasing Trailer Wheel And Tire Size On a 2020 Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2020 Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 26DBH. I currently have the following tire/axle details on my trailer and i would like to increase the tire and wheel size: Current Info: Dry Weight of Trailer is: 6,431 lbs GVWR is: 7,799 lbs Tires = ST205/75R14 Dual Axles Each Axle Rating is 3500 lbs Bolt Pattern is 5 on 4-1/2 Top of wheel to trailer well is 3-3/4 Back of wheel to frame is 3-3/4 Distance between wheels is 6-1/2 What is the largest wheel I can safely go into and tire size offering better highway usage for the weight of the trailer? Id like better tread depth and would like to go into radial tires as well.

For your 2020 Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 26DBH I recommend the Westlake ST205/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Lynx Aluminum Wheel # LHAW320. This is a radial tire that has a maximum weight rating of 2,150lbs per tire and a 10/32" tread depth.

This tire is 1" taller than your current 205/75R14. That will leave you with 3-1/4"-3" of clearance to the top of your wheel well depending on how far your current tire is worn down. The sidewall clearance to the frame will remain the same as they are the same width. And the distance between the tires will be around 4"-4-1/2" again dependent on tread wear. I do not like to see below 4" as this could cause issues.
