Choosing A Lightweight Roof Basket For The 2018 Honda CR-V

Question:

This basket seems to weigh significantly more than comparable models. Do users find this limiting in 1 ease of installation and removal Im only 53inch and don’t plan to leave it on when not in use. and/or 2 total cargo capacity? The basket itself is more than a third of the weight capacity of the factory crossbars. Add the extension and youre down to 55 percent of the cars weight capacity left for the actual cargo.

The Rola Roof Cargo Basket does weigh 58lbs which is on the heavier side. If you don't have an extra set of hands, then installing and removing this basket frequently could be troublesome.

I think a better option is the Aluminum Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - 44" Long x 39" Wide x 7" Deep - 150 lbs # 288-09200. This is very lightweight at only 18lbs. It fits a crossbar spread of 17-3/4" - 24-3/4" so you will want to measure from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar to make sure you have the right fit.
