Which Roof Basket Will Fit The Factory Swing-Out Crossbars On 2017 Subaru Outback?

Question:

Will this rack work with the factory swing out cross bars stored in the rails? i was concerned that it would be too wide and rest on the rails and the attachment brackets would not reach the crossbars.

I did some research and looked at the swing-out crossbars on your 2017 Subaru Outback. The Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket # RMCB02 measures 42" wide, so if you have at least 42" between the side rails of your roof rack then it will fit. Also, this rack fits crossbars that are up to 3-1/2" wide and 1-1/4" tall so if your crossbars are under these dimensions then it will fit. I don't think you will have an issue but you will need to measure to be sure.

If it does happen to be too wide for your roof rails or you just want another option, I would look into the Yakima SkinnyWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket # Y07014 which measures 58" Long x 23" Wide. This would certainly fit between the side rails.
