The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Black # SH22B is about 42-1/4" wide regardless of it being folded or not. It measures 17-1/8" from the the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest part of the carrier, and measures 24-7/8" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the highest point of the carrier. You can compare this to the trunk of your 2017 Honda CR-V. I don't think you will have enough room but we haven't tested this so I can't say for sure.

A hanging rack such as Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting # RRRBC045 would certainly fit in your trunk space.
