Will the Diamond Tread Fleetside Replacement Rear Bumper Fit My 1999 Chevy Tahoe?

Question:

Good morning – hope my question is simple…seems to me to be! I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 2-dr 4X4 with a rear bumper that has begun to rust. Since this is my weekend warrior vehicle used to tow boats and utility trailers and drive down logging roads when I go hunting, when I replace parts, I tend to look for HD / upgrade opportunities. I spent a bit of time looking at online catalogs and the standard “chrome replacement” bumper for my Tahoe matches the 1500 PU Fleetside. Spending time looking at options, I saw this option: Diamond Tread Fleetside Replacement Rear Bumper. Two questions: 1. Since chrome OE-style “chrome replacement” bumper are the same for the Tahoe and a Silverado 1500 PU Fleetside, is there any reason this bumper would not also fit on my Tahoe? 2. From what I read in the mounting instructions on your website, it looks like the factory receiver hitch remains in place – can you confirm that? That’s important since I plan to install a receiver-hitch mounted spare tire carrier at the same time.

I have an answer to your questions. As far as the first question, I confirmed with Westin that the Westin Fey Diamondstep Rear Bumper with Custom Installation Kit # 20008-92230 will not fit your 1999 Chevy Tahoe. I also confirmed that the Diamonstep Rear Bumper would not fit a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 and a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500. Generally, manufacturers have to change minute details of the mounting brackets and hardware to fit specific years/makes/models of vehicles.

However, the Westin Perfect Match Series Rear Step Bumper - Chrome Plated Steel # 31001 is confirmed to fit your vehicle. The Perfect Match Series Bumper includes a molded flange helps to conceal the space between bumper and truck. It also comes with all hardware needed for a bolt-on installation.

As for the second question, I confirmed with my contact at Westin that the Westin Perfect Match Series Rear Step Bumper - Chrome Plated Steel # 31001 does require you to remove your hitch receiver from the vehicle during installation.
