Will Exhaust Gases Affect the Saris Access Swing Away Hitch Extender

Question:

I see that the Saris only opens to the passenger side. I drive a 2015 Toyota Sienna, and am worried that it will extend into the blast of the exhaust pipe, causing it to get all hot and grimy, potentially affecting its functionality. Is that something I should be worried about?

The Saris Access Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks part # SAR36VR is made of steel which is powder coated for protection. It can sit pretty close to the exhaust on some vehicles but this won't create any issues as far as function goes. The most you could experience is a slight discoloration in finish.
