Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2018 Ram ProMaster 1500 To Carry Bike Rack
Question:
Hello, I have a Thule T2 Rack and need to order a receiver hitch and a Yakima Backswing hitch extender. Is there a receiver hitch that I can mount on the Promaster that would be low enough or far out enough that would allow me to open the Promaster back doors with the Thule T2 on without bikes? The Promaster doors extend 32 inches from the bumper. Thanks.

I do have a trailer hitch receiver option for you 2018 Ram ProMaster 1500, but I am not able to confirm that any of them will allow you to open the rear doors with the hitch installed even if there are no bikes on it due to how close the trailer hitch receiver is to the bottom of the doors.
Your best option is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75882 which will sit the lowest, and then still using the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483 to swing the bike rack to the side to allow you to open your rear doors.
Keep in mind the # Y02483 only works with bike racks that have a dedicated 2" shank, and will not with your Thule T2 if it has a 1-1/4" shank with an adapter.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
