Is Wear on Metal Components and Screeching Normal with Weight Distribution System
Question:
Hello, I just noticed some metal grinding wear on the inside L of my Reese round spring bars. I have only put about 5k miles on it but on my last trip used one more chain link for proper weight distribution. I am not sure if those bars are allowed to have any wear on them. I always hear a slight screeching noise in tight turns but was told earlier that it is normal. Set-up is level and within weight limitations. Thanks!

Since there's so much tension in the weight distribution systems and the parts do end up moving against each other there is a lot of noise like you noticed which sometimes translates into the type of wear you described. Some light wear of the metal of the system would be considered normal. If you are seeing a lot of metal shavings accumulate I'd be concerned but it sounds like you are okay.
